Who we are and what this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the OutFola mobile app for iOS and Android (shown as “Outfola” on your device) and to this website. In this policy, “OutFola,” “we,” and “us” refer to OutFola, the provider of the app and website, based in India. Contact us at support@outfola.com. OutFola is responsible for personal information it handles for website delivery and support.
The app is designed to work without an OutFola account and without an OutFola server. Because of that, most of this policy describes information that stays on your device and under your control, rather than information we collect.
This policy describes version 1.0 of the app and the current version of this website. Your use of OutFola is also governed by our Terms & Conditions.
Information the app keeps on your device
When you use the app, it saves the information you add so its features can work. Wardrobe records are stored in a local SQLite database, images in local files, and preferences in local app storage. The app does not transmit this information to us. We receive content only if you separately choose to send it to us, for example in a support email.
| Information | Examples | Why it’s kept |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing details | Name, category, colors, seasons, occasions, custom tags, brand, size, material, price and currency, notes, favorite, laundry and archive status | To build your closet, search and filter it, and show insights such as cost per wear |
| Photos and images | Photos you choose or take, edits from the photo editor, resized display copies and thumbnails, and outfit preview images | To show your pieces and looks (see Photos and photo metadata) |
| Outfits and drafts | Outfit names, notes, tags, the pieces included, and how each piece is positioned, sized, rotated, and layered; unfinished drafts | To save, reopen, and resume your looks |
| Plans and wear history | Planned dates and times, occasions, notes, and a snapshot of the pieces you wore (name, category, brand, tags, and image) | To show your calendar and keep past records accurate even if you later edit or delete a piece |
| Trips and packing | Trip names, dates, expected climate, activities, notes, laundry availability, piece limit, assigned looks, packed status, and extra items you add | To build your trip capsule and packing checklist |
| Reminders | Whether reminders are on, default reminder timing, and the reminder schedule for each planned look | To schedule local notifications for planned looks |
| Preferences | Appearance, language, units, default currency, first day of the week, demo mode, whether you’ve seen the welcome screen, and when you last exported a backup | To remember your settings |
| Import and technical records | Photo source (library, camera, or illustration), source file reference, original file name, file type, dimensions, file size, checksum (a digital fingerprint of the file), import progress and errors, record identifiers and timestamps, notification identifiers, and recovery markers | To recover interrupted work, flag duplicate photos, open the correct plan from a reminder, and clean up unused files. These are local records, not advertising or cross-app identifiers. |
You decide what to enter. Most details are optional; for a clothing item, only a category is required.
The app’s optional demo mode shows a built-in sample wardrobe. Sample pieces are not stored as your data and are never included in backups.
The app reads device settings such as appearance, locale and time zone, notification permission status, and available storage to format information, schedule reminders, and check space for files. It does not send these readings to OutFola. There is no requirement to provide your name, email address, phone number, or payment details to use the app.
Photos and photo metadata
You add clothing photos by choosing them with your device’s photo picker or by taking a new photo. OutFola does not request that captured photos be saved to your photo library. You can also use a built-in basic illustration instead of a photo.
OutFola keeps a copy of the image file supplied by the picker or camera, along with edited and resized copies. The supplied file may contain camera metadata, such as the date taken, camera model, or location coordinates. Image libraries read technical information needed to display and process an image, such as its dimensions and orientation; OutFola does not use embedded location coordinates to track your location. Resized display copies are generated with metadata preservation disabled, but you should not assume that importing or editing removes metadata from the original copy. Original copies are included in exported backups when available. Remove unwanted metadata before importing if you do not want it retained.
If a photo shows other people, please make sure you have their permission before adding or sharing it.
Device permissions
OutFola asks for a permission only when you choose a feature that needs it:
- Photos. OutFola uses your device’s system photo picker, so the app receives only the photos you select rather than access to your whole library.
- Camera. Used only when you choose to photograph a piece of clothing. Permission prompts depend on the platform; Android can use the system camera app to return a photo.
- Notifications. Requested only when you turn on outfit reminders. You can plan outfits with reminders off.
OutFola does not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, or calendar. It does not use advertising identifiers or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
If you decline a permission, you can still browse your wardrobe and plan outfits. Device settings open only when you tap to open them, and you can change permissions there at any time.
Choosing a backup uses the system file picker to give the app access to the file you select. Picking a photo or backup from a cloud-backed library or file provider may cause that provider to retrieve it under your device settings. Revoking a permission does not delete copies already imported into OutFola; use the deletion controls described below.
How information is used
Information in the app is used only to provide the app’s features to you, on your device:
- organizing, searching, and filtering your closet;
- building outfits in the studio and suggesting new combinations from your own pieces;
- planning looks, logging what you wore, and showing wardrobe insights;
- preparing trip capsules and packing checklists;
- scheduling the reminders you turn on; and
- creating and restoring the backups you request.
Outfit suggestions, insights, search, and duplicate-photo detection are calculated on your device. Suggestions use local rules based on your wardrobe details, favorites, wear history, and choices such as occasion, climate, and selected pieces. This release does not use an OutFola cloud service, cloud AI, or remote wardrobe processing, and it does not upload analytics or telemetry. We do not use this information for advertising, cross-service profiles, or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
When information leaves your device
OutFola does not automatically upload your wardrobe to an OutFola service. These features can make information available outside the app:
- Sharing an outfit. OutFola creates an image of your outfit and opens your device’s share sheet. Only the image is shared.
- Sharing a packing checklist. OutFola shares a text list with the trip name, dates, item names, quantities, and packed status. Trip notes and internal identifiers are not included.
- Exporting a backup. OutFola creates a backup file and opens the share sheet so you can save or send it wherever you choose (see Backups and restore).
- Device backups and transfers. On iOS, app data may be included in iCloud or computer backups depending on your device settings. On Android, OutFola disables automatic cloud app-data backup in its configuration. Some Android manufacturers may nevertheless allow device-to-device transfers. System backup and transfer behavior depends on your operating system, device, and settings; use OutFola’s own export to keep a copy you control.
- Contacting us. If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. Do not send an entire backup, private photos, or sensitive notes unless needed for your request.
When you share or save to another app or service, such as messages, email, or a cloud storage provider, that service’s own terms and privacy policy apply. We do not receive a copy unless you choose us as a recipient. The receiving service may store the content outside your country. Check what you are sharing and who will receive it.
Reminder notifications
Reminders are scheduled and shown by your device, not sent from a server. They show the outfit name and time, plus any notes you added to the plan, and may appear on your lock screen depending on your notification settings. On Android, OutFola marks reminders as private, so their contents are hidden on a secure lock screen unless your settings allow them.
Backups and restore
A backup is a single .outfola file that you create and control. It is a ZIP archive containing structured records and media: clothing details, available photos (including original image files), outfits, plans and reminder settings, wear history, trips, packing lists, meaningful outfit drafts, and portable preferences such as appearance, currency, and regional settings. It also records the creation time, app and backup-format versions, platform (iOS or Android), item counts, file paths, and file checksums. Incomplete photo imports, demo pieces, and device-specific runtime or permission state are not included. Export reports missing photos and omitted incomplete drafts; it cannot recreate files already missing from your device.
Keep your backup somewhere you trust. Backup files are not encrypted or password-protected. Anyone who has the file can open it and see its contents.
To restore, you choose a backup file with your device’s file picker. OutFola checks its format, file paths, sizes, and checksums and, after you confirm, replaces your current wardrobe with the backup. Restoring does not merge the two. Checksums detect mismatches; they do not prove who created a file or make an untrusted file safe. A local recovery copy is created to help recover an interrupted restore. Replaced media and abandoned recovery files may remain until safe cleanup; see Keeping and deleting information.
OutFola does not provide automatic cloud sync. If you lose your device or remove the app, information that has not been backed up cannot be recovered by us.
Third parties
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or provide it to data brokers.
- No third-party tracking tools. The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or social media software. It is built with open-source libraries, for example for its local database, image processing, notifications, and file handling, which run on your device.
- Device and file providers. Operating-system features, including photo selection, camera capture, notifications, sharing, file selection, backups, and device transfers, are provided by Apple, Google, your device manufacturer, or a provider you select. Their handling is governed by their own policies, including the Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
- App stores. When OutFola is available on the App Store or Google Play, those stores process download, store-account, and any store-managed transaction information under their own terms. Depending on your platform settings, Apple or Google may also collect diagnostics and make reports available to developers independently of an in-app reporting SDK. Store operators may provide app providers with statistics such as download counts. OutFola does not automatically attach your wardrobe to those reports.
- Website hosting. Our hosting provider processes standard connection information to deliver this website (see This website).
- Email support. Email delivery and storage providers handle messages and attachments that you send us so we can receive and answer your request. We use this correspondence to provide support, investigate the issue you report, and handle privacy requests or legal claims, rather than to build an advertising profile.
Information we actually hold, such as support correspondence or website records, may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation, respond to lawful process, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and protect rights or safety. If operation of OutFola is transferred through a sale, merger, or reorganization, relevant records we hold may transfer with it, subject to applicable law and this notice. These situations do not give us access to the wardrobe stored on your device.
This website
This website is a product introduction and interactive preview. It does not ask for your wardrobe, create accounts, collect email sign-ups, or include contact forms.
- The website code does not set cookies, use browser local storage, or include analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking tools.
- All images, styles, and scripts are served from this website. It does not load third-party fonts, libraries, or embedded content.
- The sample outfits you explore use an example wardrobe. Your selections stay in the open page and are not saved after you leave.
Loading a hosted page sends connection information to the host, including your IP address, requested URL, request time, and browser information in request headers; a referring page address may also be sent according to your browser’s settings. Hosting or delivery services may log this information to deliver, troubleshoot, and secure the site. The app’s offline wardrobe features do not require you to visit this website.
Hosting and delivery services may also process requests for security and delivery purposes. Their cookies, logs, and retention are covered by the hosting details below.

Keeping and deleting information
Saved wardrobe information has no automatic expiry. It remains in local app storage until you remove it, replace it through a restore, or delete the app’s data. You stay in control:
- Archive a piece or outfit to set it aside while keeping its history.
- Delete a piece or outfit to remove its current record. Past wear records keep their snapshot, including the piece’s recorded details and referenced image, so history stays accurate. Removing or replacing a clothing photo does not erase a photo still referenced by wear history. Delete the relevant wear records, or use Delete all local data, to remove that history too.
- Delete all local data (in the More tab) clears wardrobe records, outfits, history, plans, trips, imports, drafts, and app preferences, cancels OutFola reminders, and removes app-managed media, backup cache, and recovery files. A preview screen offers a backup before a final confirmation. If file cleanup is interrupted or fails, remaining files are retried when the app next opens. This is deletion through normal database and filesystem operations, not a guaranteed forensic overwrite.
- Delete the app and its data through your device settings to remove local app storage. Offloading or archiving an app may retain its data. System backups and device-transfer copies must be managed separately in your device or backup-provider settings.
Temporary sharing and backup files can contain personal information even if you cancel the share sheet. Outfit images prepared for sharing become eligible for deletion after 24 hours when another outfit is shared. More › Storage › Clean temporary files removes eligible unreferenced media, abandoned import files, and backup/share files older than 24 hours, and unprotected abandoned rollback folders older than seven days. Active imports and recovery copies needed for an unfinished restore are protected. These are cleanup eligibility windows, not automatic deletion deadlines: files can remain longer until cleanup runs successfully, you delete all local data, or the operating system removes cache files.
Backups and shared copies you saved elsewhere are not affected by deletion in the app. Delete them wherever you stored them.
Support correspondence is separate from local app data. Neither app deletion nor a local reset deletes emails you have sent us. You may request deletion at the address below, subject to lawful retention exceptions. Hosted log retention is described in the hosting details above.
Support retention: [Confirm the support-mail retention period or criteria, including follow-up, legal retention, and deletion from the email provider’s backups, before publication.]
Security
Your information is protected by your device’s own security: the operating system keeps each app’s storage separate, and your passcode, biometrics, and device encryption (where supported) protect what’s stored. OutFola does not add a separate in-app lock or its own encryption layer, and backup files are not encrypted.
No software, device, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Local storage reduces routine transmission of wardrobe data but does not eliminate risks from device access, malicious software, compromised updates, shared files, or information you send to support. Use a screen lock, keep software up to date, and store backups securely. Do not put information in notes or photos that you would not want exposed to someone with access to your device or backup.
Your choices and rights
Because your information stays on your device, you can exercise most privacy choices directly in the app:
- Access and portability. View saved content in the app and export committed wardrobe records, available media, meaningful outfit drafts, and portable preferences from More › Backup & restore. This export is not a copy of every internal record or unfinished import. The
.outfolaZIP archive contains machine-readable JSON records and media files. - Correction. Edit any piece, outfit, plan, wear record, or trip.
- Deletion. Delete individual items, or use Delete all local data.
- Notifications and permissions. Turn reminders off in More › Reminders, and change permissions in your device settings.
Depending on your location and which laws apply, you may have rights to know about and access personal information, correct it, request deletion or a portable copy, restrict processing, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, and receive equal treatment when exercising your rights. Where applicable law provides them, rights can also include appealing a declined request, raising a grievance, or nominating someone to exercise rights on your behalf. These rights are subject to their legal conditions and exceptions; mentioning a law does not mean every provision applies to OutFola.
Right to object: Where EU or UK data protection law applies, you may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Contact support@outfola.com to exercise this right.
Use the same address for privacy requests, grievances, or an appeal. Describe your request and the information involved; do not send a complete wardrobe backup or identity documents unless necessary. We may request proportionate verification and, if you use an authorized representative, proof of their authority. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful refusal or extension and available appeal options. We cannot remotely access or erase your local wardrobe. If we hold information you sent us separately, we can address a request about that information.
You may complain to the competent privacy regulator or seek remedies available under applicable law without losing your other rights. In the UK, this includes the Information Commissioner’s Office; in the EEA, you can contact the supervisory authority for your country. In India, you can raise a grievance with OutFola using the contact above and use regulatory remedies as and when the relevant provisions are in force and apply.
Purposes and legal grounds
Where EU or UK law applies, the grounds for information we handle are: performing the service you request where necessary for a contract (including responding to a service request); legitimate interests in delivering and securing the website, resolving support issues, and establishing or defending claims; and compliance with applicable legal obligations. If a particular activity requires consent, we will seek it, and you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Device permissions can be revoked in device settings; this does not by itself delete existing copies.
Contacting us is voluntary, but without a reply address and enough information about your request we may be unable to help. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so no advertising-sale or sharing opt-out is needed for the practices described here. The website has no advertising trackers for Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals to disable; those signals do not prevent the connection information needed to serve a page.
Processing locations
Your wardrobe is processed on your device wherever you use it. If you contact OutFola, your correspondence may be accessed in India, where we are based. Operating-system backups, cloud-backed photo or file providers, and recipients you choose when sharing may process information in other countries under their own policies.
Website and support processing: [Confirm hosting and email-provider processing countries, and identify any applicable international-transfer mechanism and how to obtain its safeguards before publication.]
Children
OutFola is a general-audience wardrobe tool and is not directed to children under 13. Local law may define a child differently or require a higher age or parental authorization, including for a person under 18 in India where applicable. The app does not ask for a date of birth or verify age. The Terms require users to meet applicable age and authorization requirements; the app has no online child-account or parental-consent process.
We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support correspondence or use it for marketing. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us without legally required authorization, contact us at support@outfola.com so we can investigate and delete it where required. Device-local content and copies held by your backup provider must be managed on the device or with that provider.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the app or website changes how information is handled. If a future version adds features such as accounts, cloud sync, or online services, we will update this policy before that version is released and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when this policy last changed.
Contact us
For privacy questions, rights requests, grievances, or concerns, contact OutFola, India, at support@outfola.com. This is also the contact for escalating an unresolved privacy request.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments. Their use, sharing, retention, and processing locations are described in this policy. Do not include passwords or payment-card details.
